Understanding how emotion regulation and gambling-related cognitive distortions relate to gambling problems has applicability for problem gambling prevention and treatment.
Experts believe there have been three waves of gambling in the United States: establishing the colonies with lotteries, traveling west for the gold rush, and legalizing casinos in Nevada during the Great Depression.
This training provides mental health professionals with essential tools and knowledge to address financial management issues encountered by clients, especially those affected by problem gambling. Led by Dr.
Objective:
According to the CDC (CDC, 2020) suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. This issue disproportionately impacts individuals living with problem gambling. While studies indicate 1 in 5, or 20%, will attempt suicide, far more are living with suicide ideation.
