Contingency Management: A First Line Intervention for Treatment of Stimulant Use Disorders

Contingency management approaches are based on principles of operant conditioning. According to this theoretical framework, a behavior that is reinforced, such as attendance at treatment, will increase in frequency. This presentation will focus on three different reinforcement approaches used to reinforce and strengthen desired patient/client behaviors. 

  • Des Moines University is Iowa Board of Nursing approved provider #112. This live activity has been reviewed and approved for 1.5 continuing education contact hour(s). Nurses must attend the entire session within each day to receive credit. Partial session credit is prohibited and will be forfeited.
  • Approved by the Iowa Board of Certification for 1.25 hour - Alcohol & Drug Specific.
