Life is busy and often stressful, we get it. It can be hard to prioritize taking care of your mental health.
But when you take the time to care for yourself now, you can increase future wellness for yourself and your loved ones.
“Self-care” is any healthy practice that help you feel taken care of mentally, physically and emotionally. Practicing regular self-care can help you manage stress better, prevent or lessen a crisis situation, and more.
It’s important not to wait until life becomes difficult to practice self-care; it’s generally easier to help yourself when you stumble a bit instead of having to dig yourself out of a hole when you wait.
Self-care practices should fit what works for you. They do not need to be expensive or time-consuming to help you feel better.
Ideas include:
- Getting regular exercise, especially with an activity that you enjoy
- Listening to music or a podcast
- Meditation
- Art or another creative outlet
- Cooking a favorite mean
- Talk to a friend or loved one about what you're feeling
