The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division (ABD) are partnering on the road to share messaging with Iowans about the importance of getting vaccinated for the flu and COVID-19.
Through the partnership, six semi-trailers with messaging encouraging the vaccinations are now circulating the state. According to IDPH, "by getting vaccinated for both influenza and COVID-19, we can prevent avoidable hospitalizations and help present health care resources for other needs, including illnesses, injuries and emergencies."
Recent expansions of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility for children ages 5-11 and for Iowans over 18 to receive a booster means increased opportunity for protection from the COVID-19 virus. Annual flu vaccines are recommended for all individuals over age 6 months.
Iowans with questions about vaccines for themselves or loved ones should consult their health care provider. Getting vaccinated now will provide more protection in advance of winter holiday gatherings.
