Health Equity

Health equity is the idea that all people have the opportunity to achieve positive health outcomes. Inequities are social, economic and environmentally driven factors that adversely affect groups of people. Equity is foundational to the work of public health to ensure broad population health outcomes, in the context of policy, systems, and environment, and the lived experience of the populations we serve. This presentation will provide an overview of health equity concepts, and how they apply to the work of public health. It will also discuss concrete strategies to incorporate a health equity lens into our work, including how to use data, funding, and contracts to explore and dismantle inequities. Finally, this presentation will discuss how to use health equity principles when working directly with clients.
