Interaction of Medications and Substances with Brain Injuries

This webinar will discuss general principles of medication management of neuropsychiatric symptoms after brain injury, explain which medication classes should be avoided (or used with caution) in individuals with brain injury, describe pharmacologic strategies for managing mood and behavioral disturbances in individuals with brain injury, and describe pharmacologic strategies for supporting cognitive function in individuals with brain injury. 

Objectives

  • Discuss general principles of medication management of neuropsychiatric symptoms after brain injury; 
  • Explain which medication classes should be avoided (or used with caution) in individuals with brain injury; 
  • Describe pharmacologic strategies for managing mood and behavioral disturbances in individuals with brain injury; 
  • Describe pharmacologic strategies for supporting cognitive function in individuals with brain injury.
